Digital Distribution & the limitations of the current mechanisms

You probably heard about the recent twitter "discussion" involving David Jaffe and some other guys about trade in games and digital distribution. The basic premise was as follows: Jaffe does not like 2nd hand trade ins as publishers/devs do not get a taste of this secondary money Jaffe thinks cutting devs/publishers in on the action would solve this issues He also sees Digital Distribution (DD) as the end to these problems. This got me thinking on this area and whilst digital distribution seems to be answer to alot of problems I don't agree with this. Don't misunderstand, I love downloading games off PSN, it's convenient, practical and in our "I want it right now" generation it makes perfect sense. The problem for me is not the mechanism, it is the powers the police it. Allow me to expand. Returning to the original issues of reselling used games I do sympathise with the core concept. You buy a game than trade it in for $X and this X goes against Y and hey presto you get a new game for less
