MIKE ZAMAN Presents: Has the US Treasury outsourced the printing of our Currency?

Posted on 2/6/2010 @ 10:54 PM in #People by mikezaman 0 comments

By: Mike Zaman The Pakistani State Bank is now issuing a new note, an Rs500 with an Optical Variable Ink (OVI). The purpose is to help prevent counterfeit currencies flooding the country, an anticipation and concern when fighting any war. OVI makes the note change color to the viewer as the note is held at different angles. The concept appears to be sound and the technology appears to be rather intricate. Perhaps the US could learn a thing about currency security. On October 2, 2004 a container of super-notes in $100.00 denominations and valued at over $300,000 were confiscated by the FBI, they entered the US via a container ship from Yantai, China. They were of better quality than our own treasury productions, which goes to show that not all the products produced in China are of inferior quality. Pakistan as an ally of China need not be concerned. Or should they? One now must wonder if out treasury department has outsourced printing our money, and how much has entered the US economy without

Mike Zaman Presents: Census Boycott being urged

Posted on 2/6/2010 @ 10:49 PM in #People by mikezaman 0 comments

By Mike Zaman A staunch anti government movement is under way in the US The US Census has become a rallying point for anti government sentiment, a reaction to the seemingly incapacitated administration. The focal point of the rebellion is that the Census requires too much information of a confidential nature. The US Census has been held every 10 years since 1790, and is a requirement under the Constitution the purpose is to determine our representation and allocation of government funds. Glen Beck and FOX news are rallying the anti government extreme right or neo conservatives as they are known, as they continue their tirade against the current administration. You may recall Becks attack against Obama’s citizenship, and the loss of advertisers for the Beck time slot. Under Federal law, you are only required to tell the number of persons living in the household, No other information may be required, although the census takers will ask your income and other personal matters. Those are optional.

MIKE ZAMAN Presents: Congress has no choice but to rekindle the Draft. If we don’t stop attacking countries

Posted on 2/6/2010 @ 10:42 PM in #People by mikezaman 0 comments

By Mike Zaman As more and more Americans flee US involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan and the potential wars looming in Yemen, Bosnia, Columbia, Philippines, Somalia, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Comores, Mauritius, Madagascar, Ecuador, No Korea Iran and Venezuela. US man power is lacking substantially under the (voluntary) Armed Services Too many wars, and too many hotspots around the globe for the US to act like the Lone Ranger, these have the potential to cripple the US military, in fact we should rethink our foreign policy altogether. A military complex exists to wage war! That is its only purpose! Some 200 service personnel are known to have fled these wars to “Canada”, a onetime haven for Viet Vets refusing their draft. But more than 5,000 service members have also committed suicide to escape their multiple call-ups. We wage war, like children play with toys, to the Military leaders its troops to us is real people with real names and faces. When will we as a nation say “enough” It is our blood

MIKE ZAMAN Presents: For a man who wears a dress to attack Gays is unconscionable

Posted on 2/6/2010 @ 10:31 PM in #People by mikezaman 0 comments

By Mike Zaman As Millions of Catholics around the world believe in the church, they are becoming more disenchanted with its leader. The Roman Catholic Church which has been besieged in recent years with one scandal after another is living in the grace of an antiquated philosophy. Issues such as: the Marriage of Priests, the use of any type of birth control and the alienation of a gay and lesbian following are beginning to tear at the foundation of this old establishment of religion. Many have turned away from the traditions of the church, and many more have abandoned the church entirely. Now to add insult to an already angry parishioner Pope Benedict XVI argues that laws to protect the rights of same sex couples should not be allowed. He postures that such laws go against the natural law. We submit: is a Nuns marriage to the church part of the design of Natural Law, or a priest who must abstain for relationships? The answer is that the church or we should say its leader appears to be hypocritical.

Mike Zaman Presents: Crimes against Humanity alleged against numerous nations.

Posted on 2/6/2010 @ 10:30 PM in #People by mikezaman 0 comments

By: Mike Zaman Several governments have aided the US in its secret detention program, a program that is well known and publicized yet still is classified to the extent that victims are denied their day in court. Recent UN investigations have disclosed wide spread co-operation between a number of nations including the UK, Canada, Germany, Australia, Jordon, Egypt, Syria, Morocco, Pakistan, Ethiopia, and Djibouti. These countries aided the US in holding, and or interrogating the abducted prisoners. UN allegations of Human rights violations stem from these secret detentions that the UN believes may even amount to a crime against humanity. A 222 page report by the UN commission is the result of several years of investigation, and notes that secret detention is “a manifold human rights violation that cannot be justified under any circumstances”. Yet these victims will never have their day in court.

Mohammad Reza Ali Zamani and Arash Rahmanipour whose cases were confirmed by a Tehran appeals court were hanged on Thursday morning. The pair were convicted of being “Mohareb” or enemies of God, and members of the Kingdom’s Assembly, an outlawed pro-monarchist group and the People’s Mujahideen, a religious movement. They were also charged with plotting to topple the Iranian government, ISNA said quoting officials. The executions were the first ever carried out for election-related incidents. But questions are raised about the trial and the execution! No freedom of speech here Iranian authorities arrested around 4,000 protesters including journalists and reformist politicians in a massive crackdown in the weeks after the disputed election. The two were among 11 people sentenced to death on similar charges in the wake of the post-election protests. But

With the discovery of their daughter Morgan Harrington’s remains, Gil and Daniel Harrington say they can start the healing process. The couple appeared on the Today Show Friday via satellite from their Roanoke, Virginia home.“This has been a horrific three months and this is not the end that we wanted, but closure is really important. There is some peace we have at this point. We are very sad, and obviously we would love for our daughter to be alive. But closure is very important,” said Daniel Harrington.Morgan, 20, disappeared from a Metallica concert in Charlottesville on October 17. Her body was found on a Virginia farm Tuesday.“It has been like a wound, a huge wound. But until this point, it had been a festering wound that could not heal,” Gil Harrington said of Morgan being missing. “You know, we still have a healing to do, but it's possible because, having recovered our daughter's body gives us peace. I know no one is hurting her now, that she is beyond pain.”Authorities have not determined the cause of

By Mike Zaman The Palestinian Islamic resistance movement Hamas has said Israeli agents assassinated one the resistance movement’s veteran operatives in a killing allegedly carried out last week in Dubai, UAE, and vowed to retaliate. The Islamic resistance movement identified its slain figure as Mahmoud Al Mabhouh, one of the founders of Hamas’ military wing. It said he was 50-years old. Talal Nassar, an official in Hamas’ media office in Damascus on January 20, said Al Mabhouh had been “poisoned and electrocuted in his hotel room in Dubai”. He did not elaborate. Izzat Rashaq, a top member of Hamas’ exiled leadership in Damascus, said details have not been released to avoid compromising an ongoing investigation, and that Hamas’ delayed announcement was linked to an attempt to “reach the Israeli agents who implemented this operation.” The Palestinian Islamic resistance movement pledged to “retaliate for this crime at the appropriate time and place.” Al Mabhouh lived in Syria and was passing

Mike Zaman Presents: Gandhi’s “the Great Soul” ashes scattered off South Africa coast

Posted on 2/2/2010 @ 12:36 AM in #People by mikezaman 0 comments

By Mike Zaman Six decades after his death Saturday, some of Mohandas K. Gandhi’s ashes were scattered off the coast of South Africa, where he was confronted by racial discrimination during a 21-year episode in which he developed some of his philosophies of peaceful resistance. Gandhi the great thinker gave the world a glimpse of true faith, and his intellect lives on, in the triumph of a life he sojourned. An early morning service in a harbor in the eastern city of Durban on the 62nd anniversary of Gandhi’s death included the laying of flowers and candles on the water’s surface. Gandhi, born in 1869 in Porbander in Gujarat was known as the Mahatma or “great soul,” he was shot dead by a Hindu hard-liner Nathuram Godse in 1948 in New Delhi. His ashes were divided, stored in steel urns and sent across India and beyond for memorial services. It was not unusual for some of the ashes to have been preserved instead of scattered as intended. His wisdom has echoed through the hearts and minds of countless of the

Mike Zaman Presents: Airports plan to deploy mind-reading scanners

Posted on 2/2/2010 @ 12:32 AM in #People by mikezaman 0 comments

By Mike Zaman WeCU Technologies is building a mind-reading scanner that can tell if a given traveler is a potential danger - without the subject’s knowledge. WeCU Technologies (pronounced “we see you”) is creating a system that would essentially turn the public spaces in airports into vast screening grounds. “The system … projects images onto airport screens, such as symbols associated with a certain terrorist group or some other image only a would-be terrorist would recognize, company CEO Ehud Givon said. “The logic is that people can’t help reacting, even if only subtly, to familiar images that suddenly appear in unfamiliar places. If you strolled through an airport and saw a picture of your mother, Givon explained, you couldn’t help but respond. “The reaction could be a darting of the eyes, an increased heartbeat, a nervous twitch or faster breathing, he said. The WeCU system would use humans to do some of the observing but would rely mostly on hidden cameras or covert biometric sensors

Mike Zaman Presents: Why the surge in Afghanistan?

Posted on 2/2/2010 @ 12:06 AM in #People by mikezaman 0 comments

By Mike Zaman This is the Conclusion of a (6) Part series War during the Bush administration was inevitable, even as Clinton had alienated all prospects of resolving issues with Bin Laden, Bush would take advantage of the mid east anger, which they held, more rightfully then wrong, over their perception of American imperialism. Money and Oil, coupled with the mindset of the elitist, and the teachings of a man whose political insight was damaged, Leo Strauss, and his followers so firmly implanted in the Bush administration, set the stage to influence every corner of the Bush mania. They created the mix and the primary ingredient, the excuse to attack some country in the mid east. Iraq had always been the country of choice, but the Unocal Oil Pipe line, became the first priority. Just as quickly as we went into Afghanistan we made an about face and went into Iraq We stopped looking for Bin Laden because our intelligence knew he had died on December 16, 2001, but he was still of use even in his

J.D. Salinger, Author of “The Catcher in the Rye,” Dies at 91

Posted on 1/28/2010 @ 10:30 PM in #People by Brendan 12 0 comments

J.D. Salinger, author of the classic “The Catcher in the Rye,” has died at the age of 91 from what is being called natural causes.Gaining almost as much notoriety for his reclusive nature as for literary work Salinger spent decades living in near isolation in his remote home in Cornish, New Hampshire. He had refused to give interviews for the past thirty years and hadn’t published a new piece of literature in nearly fifty years.Despite Salinger’s desire to slip away from the public eye he remained a central figure in literature due in large part to a character he introduced in a short story entitled “Slight Rebellion off Madison.” That character, Holden Caulfield, would reappear in Salinger’s “The Catcher in the Rye” and he quickly became the symbol of the teenage protagonist and rebellion. While Salinger never intended for his most famous work to be embraced by teenagers the book has become a standard piece of literature in high school English classes###Click here for morePeople NewsAbout WooEBWooEB Community
