The University of Miami was placed on lockdown Friday afternoon after at least two suspects fired a BB-gun on campus. An alert was issued at 2:42 p.m. advising all students and faculty to stay indoors until further notice.About 2 hours after the shooting UM official lifted the lockdown. “The campus is safe and secure and has been re-opened,” said a message posted on the university’s website.The identities of the suspects were not released. Hand and foot model Christina Ambers has filed a $10 million lawsuit against her Manhattan apartment building Avon House for mistreating her since she married their porter, Angel Rotger. In the lawsuit, Ambers claims the abuse included hailing her own taxis and retrieving her own packages on top of management being generally hostile towards her and Rotger.“I hope that people can understand how awful it is to come home and to then be treated with hostility in a building where I have paid a lot of money to live. Nobody should have to live this way,” the model tells the Daily News. “The people in this building need to come into the 21st century. I fell in love with Angel because he is a sweet, caring man – how dare they look down on us!”Ambers and Rotger began dating in 2007 and married in July 2009. Alexandra Kerry, the daughter of Senator John Kerry, was arrested Thursday morning in Los Angeles on suspicion of DUI. Kerry, 36, was pulled over and taken in to custody shortly after midnight. She was booked at a Hollywood police station and released at 5:25 a.m. after posting $5,000 bail.“She was stopped by officers for a DUI investigation. About 200 people began searching for the child’s body after police received “reliable information” that she was dead. A body found in the Chicago River Monday morning is believed to be that of Michael Scott, the Chicago Public Schools Board President. Police have not positively identified the body. An Arkansas jury sentenced Curtis Lavelle Vance to life in prison without parole for the murder of television anchor Anne Pressly. Charla Nash, the Connecticutt women who was mauled by her friend’s pet chimpanzee in February, spoke out for the first time since the attack on Wednesday’s Oprah Winfrey Show. Nash sat down with Oprah for an interview at Ohio’s Cleveland Clinic where she is being treated.“I don’t remember the attack,” said Nash, whose mouth, nose, ears and hands were ripped off by the 200-pound chimp.“I don’t want to [remember]…I want to get healthy. John Allen Muhammad, the man convicted of carrying out the deadly sniper attacks across the Washington D.C. area in 2002, will be executed on Tuesday evening after his plea for clemency was rejected by Virginia Governor Tim Kaine.Kaine’s decision to reject the plea for clemency came one day after the U.S. Supreme Court struck an appeal for a stay of execution. Muhammad’s attorneys have argued that their client is mentally unfit, calling his psychotic and delusional, yet neither the Supreme Court nor Kaine were willing to accept that assertion.During a three-week period in 2002 Muhammad, along with his 17-year-old accomplice Lee Boyd Malvo, killed ten people in Maryland, Washington and Virginia. The principal of Stissing Mountain High School in Pine Plains, New York was held hostage Tuesday by a gunman. Police now have in custody a single gunman suspected of taking an assistant principal hostage at the Stissing Mountain High School in upstate New York.According to Pine Plains Town Supervisor Gregg Pulver the gunman was an adult, not a student. The gunman in Thursday’s deadly shooting at Fort Hood is in stable condition at a nearby hospital. Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan was shot multiple times by civilian police officer Kimberly Munley after he opened fire at a processing center on base.Hasan, a psychiatrist practicing as Darnall Army Medical Center at Fort Hood, killed one civilian and 12 soldiers while 30 others were wounded.Munley is being hailed a hero for “subduing” Hasan, 39. “It was an amazing and an aggressive performance by this police officer,” says Fort Hood spokesman Lt. Gen. Robert Cone.Of the 30 wounded, 28 are hospitalized in stable condition. A slain gunman responsible for the fatal shooting at Fort Hood Thursday has been identified by a police source as Maj. Malik Nadal Hasan. The source believes Hasan was 39 or 40 years old.Eleven people were killed and 31 wounded in the shooting at the sports dome.
