A European hacker broke into a U.S. company’s computer network and stole 1,400 credit card numbers, account holders’ names and addresses, and security codes. The second season of The Voice came to an end last night with one of the top four singers winning $100,000 and a recording contract with Universal Republic Records. That lucky artist turned out to be Jermaine Paul, a former backup singer for Alicia Keys. Juliet Simms was the runner-up. Tom Gabel, the lead singer of the punk band Against Me!, tells Rolling Stone in its new issue that he is transgender and plans to begin hormone and electrolysis treatments to transition into living as a woman. Revealing that he has suffered from “gender dysphoria” for many years, Gabel says he will eventually change his name to Laura Jane Grace. The 31-year-old will remain married to wife Heather. Levon Helm, a musician who rose to fame as the drummer for The Band, died in a New York hospital Thursday after a long battle with throat cancer. In a statement released today, Helm’s rep confirmed the 71-year-old “passed peacefully this afternoon.”"He was surrounded by family, friends and bandmates and will be remembered by all he touched as a brilliant musician and a beautiful soul."Helm got his start in the music business as a teenager playing at clubs and bars in Arkansas.
