Toyota has issued a safety recall for 3.8 million Lexus and Toyota cars due to floor mats. In a statement Tuesday, Toyota and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration advised drivers to remove the mats that could cause the accelerator pedal to stick, which could lead to a fatal crash."A stuck open accelerator pedal may result in very high vehicle speeds and make it difficult to stop the vehicle, which could cause a crash, serious injury or death," Toyota said in a statement.The Toyota models being recalled are: 2007-2010 Camry, 2005-2010 Avalon, 2004-2009 Prius, 2005-2010 Tacoma and 2007-2010 Tundra. John Couey, the sex offender who abducted and murdered 9-year-old Jessica Lunsford, has died. Couey, 51, died of natural causes in a Jacksonville, Florida hospital. No other details were available.In 2007, Couey was sentenced to death after admitting he abducted Lunsford from her bedroom and buried her alive in two plastic trash bags in February 2005. A bomb scare in Princeton, Minnesota caused road and school closures as authorities secured three suspicious packages.Shortly after 6 a.m. Wednesday morning, three unmarked packages were discovered at the city’s post office, a public utility building and Princeton High School.Streets were blocked and all of the district’s school were closed at 9:30 a.m. because of the potential bomb threat. FBI spokesman E.K. Wilson said no direct threats were received with the packages."There's no threat associated with these packages, no claim of responsibility or demand at this point," he said.The packages have been secured and are no longer considered dangerous to the public, though authorities still don’t know what is inside of them.Public buildings throughout the city were swept but no other packages were found. A 5.9 magnitude earthquake hit Peru Wednesday but the tremblor was not felt. The U.S. Geological Survey said the earthquake was centered in Southeastern Peru near Bolivia’s capital of La Paz. The epicenter was about 155 miles below the earth’s surface.The earthquake in Peru is the third one to hit in the past 24 hours. Earlier today, a 7.9 quake hit Indonesia, killing at least 111 and leaving hundreds buried in rubble. The death toll from Wednesday’s 7.6 magnitude earthquake off the coast of the Indonesia island of Sumatra has reached 75 people and that figure is expected to climb significantly as rescue workers continue to dig through the rubble of fallen buildings.Thousands of people are believed to be trapped under those buildings as the island was rocked by the tremor that came just hours after a quake off the coast of American Samoa triggered a tsunami that killed more than 100 people.The Sumatra earthquake led the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center to issue a tsunami watch but that has since been lifted.Now the concentration has turned to finding survivors but several areas of the island have been cut off as roads have been blocked and communication has been lost.In Padang, a city that was left devastated by the quake, at least two hospitals collapsed as did a number of hotels and schools leading government officials to warn the death toll will be significantly higher than the 75 being reported.###Click here for moreWorld

Former Peruvian President Alberto Fujimori, already serving prison sentences for a number of charges, has received another six year sentence for charges of corruption.Fujimori admitted to illegally wire tapping the phones of journalists, businessmen and politicians while serving as president from 1990 to 2000. In 2000 Fujimori fled Peru for Japan after videos depicting acts of corruption brought down his government.The 71-year-old lived in exile for seven years before being detained while visiting Chile in 2005. He was eventually extradited to Peru in 2007 to face charges. That led to four trials in which he was convicted of a number of charges including ordering his security forces to carry out killings and kidnappings.
