Montrose Christian, the top-ranked team in the Washington Post, will take on perennial power St. Benedict’s Prep (Newark, NJ) on Friday.

The game will take place on the University of Maryland’s campus at Comcast Center’s Auxiliary Gymnasium and will begin at 8:00pm.

Montrose, who is ranked No. 3 in USA Today’s national rankings, has been led by senior guard Tyrone Johnson, who transferred from Plainfield (NJ). The Villanova recruit will attempt to lead his team to victory against a team that has been atop the state’s fervent high school basketball scene for several years.

Juniors Justin Anderson, who has won two gold medals with the USA national team, and Michael Carrera have also been very key components for the Mustangs’ success this season.

Montrose looks to rise up the rankings, but just like this game, the Mustangs are up against two New Jersey powerhouses for the mythical national championship. St. Patrick’s (Elizabeth, NJ) and St. Anthony (Jersey City, NJ) are currently ranked No. 1 and

With the Cleveland Cavaliers’ loss to the Boston Celtics, the only question is everyone’s mind is “Where will LeBron James play next year?”
James will sign the maximum contract allowed for an NBA player during his free agency, but his ROI should be more than just a return on investment financially. His ROI should stand for “Rings Over Income”.
The previous game (Game 5) in Cleveland was one of the worst performances in James’ career, and if it is his last home game in Cleveland, it is by far the worst way he could leave his home state. However, that game brought on a lot of media coverage and lots of comments. However, one stood out the most.
Kobe Bryant and James have been compared to each other for years, but it is evident that they can’t be compared amongst two major factors: will to win and rings. Bryant is off the charts in his will and has four rings to prove it. Despite the fact that he had Shaquille O’Neal on his side for his first three rings, last year solidified that Bryant is indeed a winner as

- Jay-Z, “Lost (Remix)”

With Thursday’s news, it is official that the unthinkable has happened. Michael Jackson has died. The toxicology and autopsy reports will be released in a matter of days, but they don’t negate the fact that the “King of Pop” is no longer with us.

When I heard the news, it didn’t hit. Right now, it still hasn’t. I’m kind of removed from it. I loved Michael Jackson, but I didn’t LOVE him. I respect him as an artist and remember my childhood being flooded with images of Mike and his performances.

I got my first sip of beer from my grandfather when I was 2, while my family watched “Michael Jackson: Moonwalker”. I fell asleep in the first rows of a Michael Jackson concert at USAir Arena when I was toddler and have used that story to equivocate how narcoleptic I can be.
Here lies the body of the term “swag”. Let it lie here in eternity, but think of the memories…hopping out of bed while turning it on, no one on the corner having it like we do, having it at a hundred thousand trillion.

However, let it die. Please keep it dead.

A term that was once meant for a gentleman with an air of being regal, confident, self-assured yet conservative died due to bastardization and overuse.

The term that was used to define men like John F. Kennedy, Frank Sinatra, Billy Dee Williams and Denzel Washington is now used for any Negro with arrogance or a level of being ostentatious. It was a term that described a man’s walk (“he has a swagger about him”), but now has been translated to mean anything external, gaudy or materialistic.

Your outfit doesn’t have swag, your car doesn’t have swag, nor can your Yorkie have swag. Inanimate objects and animals do not have the capability to have swag, nor do they truly add to a person’s.

In 2008-09, swagger had replaced the word confident,

vs.
With all the commercials and marketing strategies pitting Kobe Bryant and LeBron James together, I thought I would give my opinion on the comparison between “The Black Mamba” and “King James”.

Let’s start with some historical perspective.

A year after Kevin Garnett became the first player since Moses Malone to skip college to go to the NBA, Kobe Bryant entered the NBA in 1996 after graduating from Lower Merion H.S. in Ardmore, PA. Although receiving a 1300+ on his SAT, Bryant decided to skip college for his dream: to play in the NBA.

The 1996 Draft was arguably the deepest draft in history. Bryant accompanied fellow All-Stars Allen Iverson, Ray Allen, Antoine Walker, Stephon Marbury, Steve Nash, Marcus Camby, Jermaine O’Neal and Peja Stojakovic in this esteemed draft as he was selected as the #13 pick.

Although he was drafted by Charlotte, he was traded on draft day to his childhood favorites, the Los Angeles Lakers, for Vlade Divac.

One year later, Shaquille O’Neal signed with the Lakers

With all of these damn love reality shows on TV, I have devised my own!

Welcome to my brand new reality show…

THE SCOOP OF LOVE (also known as EL SCOOPITO DE AMOR on Telemundo)

Decked in my fly robe, house shoes and stunner shades, I, the one and only Scoop, will select from a group of 20 potential mates (I mean, scallywags).

The group will be divided into two divisions: Hoochies and High-Class Heifers. 10 Hoochies will be named after ice cream (scoops of ice cream) and 10 HCHs will be named after newspapers (because I got the inside scoop).

For the Hoochies, each girl will receive a “big ass spoon” to move on to the next round, while the HCHs will receive a roll of newspaper called “The Inside Scoop” with a picture of me on the front page.

For the Hoochies, I ask them to come up to the podium, then ask them “Do you want my big ass spoon? Do you want a Scoop of my love?”

For the HCHs, I say “Do you want ‘The Inside Scoop’? Do you want Scoop inside?” After they all accept my gifts,

I believe that social networking will soon become more about networking than it will be about the social aspect. There are several sites that want you to become friends with new people or rekindle friendships with people from the past, but my future of social networking will be about being productive.

As an avid sports fan and native of Washington, DC, I am extremely disappointed by several of my favorite teams, notably the Redskins and Wizards.

I wish I was the GM of both teams simultaneously, but I could only hope. However, here are my thoughts on the Redskins. (The Wizards are coming up soon.)

After starting 6-2, the Redskins ended the season just 8-8, missing the playoffs. As a team, they collapsed for reasons that are hard to explain. Rookie head coach Jim Zorn did a good job overall this season, but I am convinced the ‘Skins are dead-set on being mediocre.

Coming into the offseason, we lost our Hall of Fame coach Joe Gibbs, offensive coordinator Al Saunders and defensive coordinator Gregg Williams. Zorn came in and kept the majority of Gibbs’ staff and early on, we surprised the masses. However, that zeal did not last.

With the background of an offensive coordinator, Zorn disappointed. The Redskins were 28th in the NFL in scoring offense (16.6 ppg), 19th in total yards (320 ypg) and 23rd

And you were raised in my city, it is apart of you
I was born in NYC, another body
Then I moved to DC, time to party
Now I am DC, you can tell probably
But when I look at my city, it’s kind of out of body
It’s its own organism, growing constantly
Many different aspects that it embodies
Take a trip on my Osmosis Jones trolley

I was raised in the left pocket, Southeast, baby
Can’t come out of pocket there unless you’re crazy
They might be in the right side,
But many of them ain’t thinking with the right side,
I should know
As I started to grow, I got more political
Realized East Capitol was more of the belt than the Beltway
And the buckle was the Capitol
I moved Uptown to Shepherd Park, right by the brain
Close to Mo County, right near the Silver Spring train
It’s where I was bred, and so close to the mouth, that’s where I was fed
More money up there, because it goes to your head
Traveled all around the body, even kicked it in the heart

College football is a bunch of BS…I mean, BCS. Well, no, I was right the first time.

For the past three weeks, the snags of the BCS hit its apex with the selection of Oklahoma to win the Big 12 South division over Texas (who beat them) and Texas Tech (who beat Texas).

This was quite a quagmire, but based on the fact that Texas Tech got blown out by the Sooners, 65-21, they should not have been considered in the comparison. With that said, the battle royale was between OU and the Longhorns.

In said battle of the titans, UT defeated their archrivals 45-35 in the annual Red River Shootout on a neutral field in Dallas.

Texas went to Lubbock three weeks later after defeating then-No. 11 Missouri, 56-31, and then-No. 6 Oklahoma State, 28-24, and played No. 7 Texas Tech in one of the hardest four-game stretches in recent college football history.

On a miraculous catch by all-world receiver Michael Crabtree, the Red Raiders defeated Texas, 39-33, giving the Longhorns their only loss of the season.

In February of 2005, I was in one of Marketing classes when a fellow classmate asked me, “Have you heard about Facebook?”

I had never heard of this site, but I was intrigued after another classmate said that he heard about it. Apparently, it was an upgraded version of Classmates.com.

I checked out the page and realized that I could not join until another school petitioned for my school, Morehouse College, to become a member. Within a week, Morehouse was allowed on Facebook and I added a profile. Morehouse became one of the first Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) allowed on Facebook. I then sent a petition for Spelman College to be added as well.

Within in days, I reconnected with several high school classmates that I had not seen nor heard of since my HS graduation. I scoured across neighboring high schools to see who else I knew on Facebook.

Back then, it was much smaller and I felt a little privileged to be on a site that was geared solely toward undergraduate students. It

On Nov. 4, 2008, history was made. The genesis of a new America has begun. It is at the crossroads of an economic upheaval and the ousting of old, unsuccessful politics. At this crossroads, we met on Election Day and drove left in order to ensure that America does the right thing.

Sen. Barack Obama is the next President of the United States. His wife Michelle Obama is the next First Lady of the United States. Sasha and Malea Obama, two pretty young girls, will now move into 1600 Pennsylvania Ave in the Northwest section of my hometown, which can officially be CEMENTED as “Chocolate City”.

Let me backtrack though. Let me explain how this selection is not about race, but about the audacity of hope, the necessary call for change, the euphoria of motivation. Hope, change and motivation moved America as a whole, not any particular race or ethnicity. This was a calling ordained by a sense of new direction and a collective spirit that has permeated through a nation.
