Slow Computer Defragment

Posted on 10/17/2007 @ 10:19 AM in #Computers by defragmentation 0 comments

For many of us out there the “honeymoon period” of enjoying the speed of our new computer is all too brief. Before we ever realize how nice it is to enjoy the rapid response in which our computer delivers information, we become bogged down in its delays. With each passing day the memories of how fast our computer once performed fade and we become resigned to life with a sluggish computer. While many just chalk this slow computer performance up to the natural lifecycle of the hard drive the truth is we don’t have to settle for the frustrations that develop over time. As with most problems related to a computer, there is a solution. The solution for most slow computer performance problems typically comes from defragmenting your hard drive. If that sounds too complicating or expensive don’t worry, it’s as simple as heading to your local computer retailer and asking for defrag software. As easy as the solution is, it’s extremely important that you act quickly when you begin to notice the speed of your Continued...

Computer Disease Disk Fragmentation

Posted on 10/15/2007 @ 12:35 PM in #Computers by defragmentation 0 comments

Aptly named a disease, fragmentation, when left untreated, can not only spread throughout your computer and slow down its performance but could potentially lead to the crash of your hard drive itself. While most people opt to treat a disease when they discover its presence, for some reason fragmentation doesn’t elicit the same response, yet it most certainly should. For many people, their computers hold extremely valuable pieces of information and files. Things that, if lost would be impossible to replace. Like any disease there are warning signs that computer users should look for when diagnosing fragmentation. Most of these signs relate to your computer’s speed in relation to how quickly it responds to entered commands. For computer users experiencing slow boot-up times, delays in loading applications, or reduced speed in file retrieval there is a good chance that their hard drive contains fragmented files. At first this may seem like a minor inconvenience but if we ignore the problem it could Continued...

Defragment Hard Drive

There are hidden dangers that many businesses and companies expose their computer systems to on a daily basis. While the activities and daily operations that individuals use their office computers for appear innocent enough, over time these practices can lead to a slow down to computer speed throughout a company’s network. Among the most common activities an individual uses their computer for is email and web browsing. Both of these are necessities in today’s business world yet they present potentially crippling effects on the speed of a computer. The damage isn’t coming from a spammer, a link containing a virus, or a questionable website; the impediment is a result of fragmented files. Most businesses are unaware of fragmentation and thus don’t understand what really causes their computers to slow down and become inefficient. Every time we open an e-mail or browse the web our computer is creating temporary and cache files. Over time these files grow into the thousands and frequently become the source Continued...

Slow Computer Fragmentation

In a business world dominated by how quickly we can produce results there are few things that are as damaging as a slow computer network. We rely on our computers to store our company’s most valuable information and retrieve files in a matter of seconds; we depend on these systems to bring not just the convenience of quick results but the necessity of efficiency. Despite such a marked reliance on our computers and the functions that they serve, we often overlook simple methods to ensure that they operate at their highest speed and functionality. While most businesses invest in products that filter spam from email inboxes and software that protects hard drives from dangerous viruses that could impair the network very little is done to protect our computers from the effect of fragmented files. This can usually be attributed to the subtle nature of slow computer fragmentation. Spam and viruses typically show themselves in a quick strike and the computer user is aware of the problem almost immediately Continued...

When businesses experience a slowdown in their computer network system it often results in an overall slowdown in their productivity. The reliance that we have placed upon our computers has grown so much that the slightest deviation from its normal functioning capabilities can be the difference between a productive work environment and one heading in the opposite direction. We often take our computers for granted and expect them to execute our demands at the click of a button. Very little thought goes into what makes our computers run at optimal speed and, even more problematic, what could cause our computers to slow down. As we place more and more emphasis on the role our computers play in day-to-day business operations it becomes imperative that we become more proactive in taking care of those systems. For most businesses the idea of securing the health of their computers is limited to installing virus protection software and spam filters. No doubt these two actions are important to protecting your Continued...

Slow Computer Performance

Benjamin Franklin is credited with the saying “time is money” and over the last 200-plus years that belief has reverberated throughout daily life. While we often consider the speed by which we attain tasks as a matter of convenience the bottom line is it’s a matter of money. The longer we wait for things the more money we are susceptible to lose. For businesses the cost of delays can be the difference between being financially successful or struggling to keep their head above water. There are times when a business becomes crippled due to events that delay their daily affairs. Sometimes those events are out of a business’ control, something like a natural disaster or severe weather conditions can grind operations to a halt but more often than not delays experienced by a business are preventable and only require a proactive approach to sustaining efficiency. Most businesses and companies rely on their computer network in some capacity to maintain their daily operations. The speed by which our Continued...

Slow Computer Defragment

In a perfect world our computers would be able to maintain clean hard drives through self cleaning and eradicate any problems without our intervention. As we are all aware this is not a perfect world and thus we must be proactive when it comes to maintaining the welfare of our computers. While this may seem like a task better suited for IT experts and computer outlets specializing in diagnosing and fixing hard drive problems the truth is, if we are serious about keeping our computers free of diseases and that could affect its speed then we can do something about it. Most businesses rely on contractors to keeping their computers running and for this they pay a hefty price. Many fear that if they were to take the matter into their own hands they could cause even more problems and endanger and possibly risk losing valuable data on their hard drive. There are certainly times when a business should allow the experts to handle work their magic. Instances when there is a loss of data or a hard drive Continued...

Defragment Hard Drive

With the business world’s continued reliance on computers to sustain daily operations comes the increasing importance of maintaining the “health” of those processors in which companies place their most valued information. In some respects a business must treat their computers as they would their employees. It’s no secret that employees who believe their company treats them fairly generally perform better than those employees who have a negative image of their employer. While computers don’t have feelings or formulate opinions they certainly perform at a higher level when they are treated for potentially dangerous diseases. Too often a company is left to react when they have a computer problem rather than opt for preventative measures that could alleviate potentially catastrophic issues. We hear about it in the news all the time, a network system is hacked and valuable data is stolen, an email is opened and our hard drive is exposed to a virus. It’s only after the problem exists that we begin to question Continued...
